Final Update -- 15 Jun 2018
Events:
1) Met with Stanford Midshipmen: discussed their futures in the USN and DoD. Stanford averages six midshipmen per year, two soldiers and this year, zero AFROTC cadets.
2) Attended book presentation on Political Risk by Dr. Condoleezza Rice and Dr. Amy Zegart (my boss at Hoover). Authors discussed there book which was built from a class on the topic.
3) Trip to Idaho National Labs. Attended a three day conference discussing the cybersecurity of control systems in critical infrastructure. In short, we are owned, we must prioritize and execute. This has the power to half AF operations.
4) Meeting with Mr. Jim Baker (Director, ONA). This was the NSAFs second visit of the year with Mr. Baker. He was extremely interested in our groups insight into national security challenges. He later presented his perspectives on the "3rd Offset" to the Stanford class on Technology and National Security. His perspective is the first logical perspective I have seen on the idea.
5) Supported COMACC's visit to Stanford and DIUx. COMACC is the most senior Airmen to visit Stanford this year. CSA, the CNO and the USMC Commandant visited the Hoover Institution this year. COMACC met with the NSAFs, senior fellows, Secretary George Schultz, guest lectured in the Technology and National Security class and visited DIUx. COMACC agreed to return in the late fall if his schedule permits.
6) Traveled to JBER. Served as a local assessment of the need and value that Enterprise IT as a Service (EITaaS) can provide the missions at JBER. This was a direct support mission for AFSPC and AF/CIO on behalf of DIUx.
7) Attended outbriefs from Hacking 4 Defense. It was an absolutely awesome experiencing working with these teams this term. More details can be found here: https://steveblank.com/2018/06/08/hacking-for-defense-stanford-2/
8) Attendied final session of Information Warfare and Sun Tzu working group. Our team of PhDs, cyber industry experts, former Estonian President and some of the original MIT "hackers" spent four months analyzing Sun Tzu's 36 strategems and developed analogies to modern information warfare, cyberspace operations and policy activities. The end result will be a paper and future Stanford class on the topic.
9) Meeting with ADM (ret) Swift (former CDR PACFLT). Discussed topics ranging from the role of USINDOPACOM and the US/DPRK Summit.

Speaking Events:
1) Spoke at the annual retreat for Pacific Skyline Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The council services over 6000 scouts and 2200 adults in the region. Topic was on Family Scouting, which is the program that opens scouting to young women.
Upcoming:
1) The Hoover Institution is having me present my research in a "Ted Talk" in the coming weeks. It will be available on the Hoover Institution site when complete.

Pamphlet published: My work, entitled: Cyberspace Strategy Development Informed by Historic Strategists: Insights from Thucydides, Jomini, Alfred Thayer Mahan and Herman Kahn will be available on Amazon by 23 Jun 2018.
Doctoral: Framing the Problem at the 85 EIS: Short paper for the class on Innovation and Leadership. Chapter 1 of dissertation approved: The dissertation is on the role of private foundations in high school. Plan is assess the positive benefits of private foundations in school districts (Silicon Valley, Houston and Baltimore).
